Baianos e Novos Caetanos
Baianos e Novos Caetanos
Baiano e os Novos Caetanos was a satirical Brazilian music project from the mid-1970s, created by comedian Chico Anysio and musician Arnaud Rodrigues. Inspired by Novos Baianos and Caetano Veloso, they blended humor with sharp political commentary during Brazil’s dictatorship.
Their debut (1974) mixes samba-rock, forró, MPB, and psychedelia, featuring classics like “Vô Batê Pá Tu” and “Urubu Tá com Raiva do Boi”. Though playful, their lyrics critiqued censorship, consumerism, and the military regime.
Both musically rich and socially bold, the project remains a cult classic in Brazil’s music history.
