Elis Regina - Elis, Essa Mulher (Original Pressing)
Elis Regina - Elis, Essa Mulher (Original Pressing)
Elis Regina – Elis, Essa Mulher is a 1979 studio album marking Elis’s debut on the Warner (WEA) label after leaving Philips/Phonogram. It features a set of 10 Brazilian popular music (MPB) tracks produced by Marco Mazzola and César Camargo Mariano with arrangements that blend samba, jazz and songcraft.
The album includes “O Bêbado e a Equilibrista”, one of Elis’s most celebrated recordings, which became an anthem of the Amnesty movement in Brazil as the military dictatorship was ending. It also features the title track “Essa Mulher”, a reflective song about the many facets of womanhood written by Joyce and Ana Terra.
