Gal Costa - Fantasia (original pressing)

Fantasia is a 1981 studio album by Gal Costa that marks a more accessible, pop-leaning phase of her MPB career. Blending MPB with samba, frevo, ballads and light pop arrangements, the album reflects early-1980s Brazilian production while retaining Gal’s expressive vocal style.

It was a major commercial success in Brazil, driven by the hit “Festa do Interior”, and also features songs by prominent composers such as Caetano Veloso and Djavan. While not as experimental as her Tropicália-era work, Fantasia is widely regarded as an important, crowd-friendly album that broadened her audience and remains one of her best-known records.
