Jorge Mautner & Nelson Jacobina - Arvore da Vida

A profound collaboration between two of Brazil's most visionary musicians. Árvore da Vida marks the culmination of a creative partnership that began in 1974, when Nelson Jacobina's guitar opened doors with Jorge Mautner, Brazil's avant-garde provocateur. Originally released on Gilberto Gil's independent Geleia Geral label, this 1988 album is a carefully crafted blend of new material and fresh takes on Brazilian classics—from the rhythmic playfulness of "Samba jambo" to the introspective beauty of "Lágrimas negras," alongside reverential covers of Noel Rosa and Ismael Silva. Half unreleased at the time of recording, the album captures Mautner and Jacobina at a creative peak. An essential document of Brazilian experimental music and a lasting tribute to Jacobina's artistry (1953-2012).
