ORQUESTRA AFRO-BRASILEIRA (80 ANOS RE-MIXES)

ORQUESTRA AFRO-BRASILEIRA (80 ANOS RE-MIXES)

This superb remix collection celebrates the legacy of Brazil's Orquestra Afro-Brasileira while reimagining tracks from their landmark albums Obaluaye in 1957, and Orquestra Afro-Brasileira in 1968. Founded in 1942 by Abigail Moura, the pioneering ensemble fused Afro-Brazilian rhythms, sacred chants and big-band jazz with great new vision and power. The group was revived in 2021 by original member Carlos Negreiros for their final album 80 Years and their original spirit now lives on through remixes by Marcelo D2, Criolo, Pupillo, Emicida, Rael, Cut Chemist and Mexican Institute of Sound, all of which bridge eras and generations with great rhythmic celebration.
